Welcome to the Rotary Literacy Initiative website! It is our vision to give every child the opportunity to become a “Smart Kid” by giving them access to free literacy resources (books and digital media) that not only build reading and writing skills, but equip them with a Life Skills Tool Box filled with personal skills, social skills and coping skills—skills that will help them live a happier, more fulfilling life.
To achieve this vision, we offer Rotary Clubs literacy programs that service children, young adults and families, with “life skills” books and a safe, fun-filled streaming website packed with multimedia e-books, educational videos, audiobook stories, entertaining podcasts, interactive games, and much more—streamed directly from our Reading Adventure Island website.
The Reading Adventure Island streaming website and the Smart Kidz Life Skills Library are designed to support your Rotary Club by giving you access to a reliable and consistent source of literacy resources so you can better service children and families, reach new audiences, and widen your donor base.

The Reading Adventure Island’s vast library of digital media supports and reinforces classroom learning in the areas of reading, math, science, language arts and life skills!
This streaming website is all about inspiring and motivating children to read, learn valuable life skills…and empower them with positive self-esteem. The Reading Adventure Island website also promotes the development of positive character traits, core family values, and encourages family members to build a home library to create a learning environment in the home.

Flash cards have been a staple in the realm of education for decades, revered for their simplicity, versatility, and effectiveness. In elementary education, their value cannot be overstated, as they play a crucial role in developing foundational reading and math skills in young learners.
Smart Cardz is a digital format, created and developed by Smart Kidz Media, to deliver educational content to young learners in a fun, entertaining, and an immersive format. This proprietary format features sound and a “flip card” function that delivers basic educational content to young learners in a short, concise, and an engaging “flash card” layout.

While some students learn effectively with visual, “hands-on” activities like Smart Cards, still other emerging learners respond best to exciting and informative audio tracks. Our site offers a wide variety of files that are sure to interest students of all ages, with more files being added all the time.
The audio files on the site include engaging and fun content related to life skills (ages birth-3), good behavior building and sing-along songs (ages 3-6), living skills (ages 6-8), fairy tales and fun stories (ages 3-8), and “Totally Cool School” podcasts (ages 3-8). We are also proud to offer virtual concerts that can be enjoyed by kids of all ages.
